Dave
Evans was born in Rhyl North Wales, his family moved to Bristol in the west
country, while he was still quite young. After several labouring type jobs
Dave, whose father had been a Sergeant Major in the Royal Artillery, joined
the regular army. It was while serving in the army, that he started playing
drums in a skiffle group. Dave also found that he had a talent for mimicry,
and to amuse his army mates, he would do wicked send up’s of his superior
officers.
On leaving the army and while working with a demolition company in Bristol, Dave joined a rock’n’roll band as lead vocalist and saxophone player. The band was called the Forgotten Four so when Dave joined they became the Forgotten Five. After three years with the band Dave decided to pursue a solo career as a comedy impressionist and a singer.
Dave has appeared extensively on British television in such shows as Who Do You Do, Tommy Cooper Hour, Seaside Special, Starburst, Nuts, Live From Her Majesty’s, Tom O’Connor Show, Copy Cats as well as twice having his own fully networked hour long specials An Evening with Dave Evans. Dave has appeared on Australian television on the Ray Martin Show and the Derryn Hinch Show.
Dave is no stranger to radio either, having appeared on The Impressionist, Bob Monkhouse Show, the Windsor Davies Show as well as hosting The Dave Evans Show on BBC Radio 2.
Dave has performed at most of the major clubs and theatres in Britain such as the Opera House (Blackpool), The Dominion (Manchester), Pavilion (Glasgow), Royal Albert Hall (London), Piccadilly Theatre (London) and many more. He has also appeared many time on Cruise Liners for P&O Cunard, Royal Viking Line, and Raddisson Line.
Dave has performed in the USA at the Sahara Hotel and the Maxim Hotel (Las Vegas), the Sheraton Hotel, Miami. He has also appeared at the casino in Palma, Germany, Republic of Ireland, Singapore, Borneo, Cyprus, Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia.
Dave Evans plays clarinet, tenor saxophone, trumpet, guitar and piano and does singing impressions as diverse as Pavarotti, Tom Jones, Jerry Lewis, Little Richard, Cleo Laine, Fats Domino, Ray Charles, Acker Bilk, Louis Armstrong, Shirley Bassey, Elvis Presley, David Lee Roth, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Harry Connick Jnr, Joe Cocker and Frank Sinatra.
